What is Decaffeinated Tea
Lifestyle trend are, however, changing and as consumers today becomes more health conscious and there is demand for decaffeinated tea. People do not wish to take in any caffeine, this kind of teas are now available. Caffeine is removed by treating the tea with an organic solvents viz. methylene chloride, ethyl acetate, and super critical carbon dioxide. Methyl chloride is the cheapest and most easily removed from the tea after decaffeination process. But the US and Germany have banned all imports of products using methyl chloride. Carbon dioxide is the most widely used and thought to be the least harmful. Decaffeinated tea is not totally free of caffeine. After decaffeination, a small percentage of caffeine still remains in leaf in all three processes.
